Our Green Ambitions: Workforce Development program helps young people step into California’s fast-growing green economy with the skills, confidence and hands-on experience they need to thrive. This program gives youth, especially those from historically under-resourced communities, direct access to the emerging fields that are shaping our future. Explore how green career training, real-world learning and equity-centered support are helping young people lead the way toward a cleaner, more sustainable world.
Opening Pathways to the Green Economy
Young people of color often face barriers to accessing high-demand and high-wage green jobs. Green Ambitions removes those barriers by connecting youth to practical training, professional mentors and real projects that build career readiness. Participants gain exposure to new industries including clean energy, climate resilience, environmental justice and sustainable infrastructure, while developing the skills needed to succeed in tomorrow’s workforce.
Key Features of the Program
Hands-On Green Technology Experience
Participants work on real sustainability projects, including supporting the construction of an electric vehicle charging station in South Sacramento. This project provides first-hand experience with green infrastructure, engineering concepts and emerging technology.
Career Exploration in Clean Energy and Climate Fields
Youth learn about careers in:
• Clean energy and solar innovation
• Climate resilience and environmental planning
