Ruby Bridges Walk to School Day
In honor of 6-year-old Ruby Bridges’ historic walk to school to integrate William Frantz Elementary School in New Orleans in 1960, many schools around the country celebrate Ruby Bridges Walk to School Day. AAA partners with the Ruby Bridges Foundation to offers supplies to help schools organize events.
United Way California Capital Region applied for funds from AAA on behalf of Edward Harris Middle School in Elk Grove. In collaboration with the school’s Black Student Union and the special education department, United Way is also helping to coordinate the event.
We are proud to partner with Edward Harris Jr. Middle School to hold a student-led march and creating dialogue about ending racism and all forms of bullying.
