May 2021 Corporate Community Champion

As a strong United Way campaign partner, Wraith Scarlett & Randolph (WSR) Insurance Services has raised nearly $54,000 over the last 12 years.

WSR raised hundreds of additional dollars through special events, like their popular “Jeans Days” where staffers wore jeans to show their support for the United Way campaign.

For years WSR has been a proud United Way sponsor of events such as the Women United Annual Luncheon and the Annual Golf Tournament.

Ruth Miller also received the Frances Wisebart Jacobs Award from UWCCR in 2020. She served on the UWCCR Board of Directors for multiple years and is also a long-standing member of Women United.

Since 2013, The Boldt Company has been a strong campaign partner with United Way. 

Incentives for Staff Participation

In 2019, Boldt management supported and encouraged participation by organizing a raffle and donating gift cards and experiences which successfully raised an additional $500 for the United Way campaign.

In 2020, the company reached its goal of over 75% companywide participation. Boldt’s theme for their campaign was ‘Creating a Culture of Caring.’ They put this into action by participating in writing and sending virtual cards of care and support to seniors and first responders.

True to his word, Boldt President and Chief Operating Officer, Dave Kievet, shaved his head in celebration of reaching their campaign goal!

For more than 30 years, True Value in Woodland has held an annual employee giving campaign. Over the past five years, True Value has raised in excess of $105,000.

True Value Corporation is a strong corporate supporter of United Way and offers a 50% match on employee giving to benefit our local programming. 

The True Value team and employees are committed to making a difference in our local community by volunteering and donating multiple items to the golf tournament.

John Camacho, General Operations Manager at True Value Company’s Woodland Distribution Center, is a strong supporter of United Way.  He currently serves on the Yolo County Community Advisory Committee, the Golf Tournament Committee and has served on the Woodland United Way Board for many years.

Since 2010, NuStar Energy has been an extremely supportive corporate partner in the Capital Region.

Todd Habets, NuStar’s Director of Health, Safety & Environment, serves as the Vice-Chair of United Way California Capital Region’s Resource Development Committee.  This year the company had a record-setting campaign – over $4.76 million raised company-wide which is more than $1.5 million more than last year!

NuStar supports employee volunteering and creates innovative opportunities for its employees. The average per capita gift per employee is over $2,000 with 99.9% employee participation.

NuStar awarded a grant to United Way Capital California Region that allowed more than 70 children in the Robla School District to attend a field trip to the Roseville Utility Exploration Center, for the Junior Chef Program and the Robla Farm-to-School Field Trips.

For more than a decade, Procter & Gamble (P&G) has been an amazing partner in the Capital Region.

In the past five years, its employee giving campaign has continued to grow and has provided United Way with more than $150,000 to support our mission to bring people together to build stronger, healthier, more compassionate communities.

The P&G Foundation gifts have also exceeded more than $35,000 during that same period of time. They have a strong volunteer program and last year alone they participated in more than 350 hours of service.

P&G’s workplace giving campaign is headed by an amazing leader, Nerlhuys Wetzel. Nerlhuys has been leading the charge at P&G for more than a decade. She is a joy to work with and her passion for helping people in our community is infectious.  She works tirelessly to make sure each campaign is the best it can be and always helps us with the grant process from the P&G Foundation.
