In Sacramento County, nearly 100,000 children under the age of five are eligible to receive free books each month through Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library—a program that fosters early literacy and a lifelong love of reading.
For every $100,000 raised, we can support 1,350 children in the program. Right now, we have the funding to support 10,000 children. That means 90,000 children are still waiting—waiting for the chance to build their own home library, to hear bedtime stories from parents and to fall in love with reading.
We’re calling on businesses, companies and government leaders in Sacramento County to help us close this gap. Your support can ensure that every child—regardless of their family’s income or background—has access to the joy and opportunity that books provide.
Together, we can make Sacramento County a place where every child starts school ready to learn, dream and succeed.
