UPS volunteers help improve facilities at Next Move

A team of volunteers from UPS came together recently to help out United Way certified partner Next Move with the garden in the back of the shelter by helping to clean and build additional beds. The team worked so fast, they were also able to accomplish painting of the day room at the shelter where families spend their time together. The fresh paint will make the environment more inviting and comfortable. Some members of the team even headed over to another Next Move facility to help with a fence project that needed to be completed. The group had fun, learned about the organization and met some wonderful people along the way.

Next Move, formerly Sacramento Area Emergency Housing Center, started in 1972 housing just seven homeless families. Now, the organization serves an average of 600 people each day. Next Move provides vital shelter, housing and community services to improve the self-reliance and quality of life for families with children and adults experiencing homelessness. Thank you to the team from UPS for working so hard and going above and beyond. An additional thank you to the dedicated Next Move staff who led the troops and made the volunteer experience the best it could be!
