United Way and CSECC volunteers serve breakfast at Wellspring Women’s Center
As a part of their United Way campaign training, United Way and California State Employees Charitable Campaign (CSECC) Loaned Executives and Campaign Liaisons recently volunteered with United Way certified partner Wellspring Women’s Center to serve breakfast to women and children in the Oak Park community.
After a brief orientation and learning more about the organization, volunteers helped prepare and serve the meals to guests, in addition to having friendly conversations and getting to know people coming through the doors. The volunteers showed up ready to roll up their sleeves and get to work and the staff at Wellspring Women’s Center were extremely accommodating and friendly hosts which made the experience that much more impactful for the volunteers.
Wellspring Women’s Center is open Monday through Friday, offering a nutritious breakfast daily to over 200 women and their children as well as a play area for children. During the afternoon, guests may obtain mental health counseling from a staff social worker and interns. Wellspring staff members assist guests with referrals for needed services, and local agencies provide outreach at Wellspring so that community resources are not duplicated.
Thank you again to the volunteers from United Way and CSECC as well as the staff of Wellspring Women’s Center for making this collaboration a huge success! United Way is privileged to work with both of your organizations.
