Next Move gets a visit from Eli Lilly volunteers

A team of volunteers from Eli Lilly came together recently to help out United Way certified partner Next Move with multiple tasks around the Family Shelter facility. The team split into teams to accomplish the most—including raking leaves, disinfecting toys in the child care center, painting a wall in the shelter, and helping to prepare lunch for the families staying at the shelter.Through these activities, the group had fun together as a team and learned  more about the organization and met some wonderful people along the way. Some of the volunteers were so inspired, they even opted to adopt some of the remaining few families for the Next Move Adopt-A-Family program.

Next Move, formerly Sacramento Area Emergency Housing Center, started in 1972 housing just seven homeless families. Now, the organization serves an average of 600 people each day. Next Move provides vital shelter, housing and community services to improve the self-reliance and quality of life for families with children and adults experiencing homelessness. Thank you to the team from Eli Lilly for working so hard and going above and beyond. Our community is eternally grateful for your corporate policy of giving back to local communities. An additional thank you to the dedicated Next Move staff who made the volunteer experience the best it could be.
