CWA, SEIU1000 & UFCW8GS join together to volunteer at St. John’s Shelter Program
A joint group of volunteers made up of members of CWA, SEIU1000 & UFCW8GS recently represented some of Sacramento’s labor community by helping out at St. John’s Shelter Program for Women & Children. Volunteers helped with sorting donated clothing, household items and baby supplies in the donation center and helping to prepare and serve lunch for the program residents and their children. The team of volunteers joined together and worked hard to get the job done. The group started with a heartfelt tour of St. John’s Shelter Program for Women & Children, learning about the various programs and meeting residents and their kids. St. John’s Shelter for Women and Children is the only program in Sacramento County focused exclusively on the most vulnerable of the homeless population, women with children.
Thank you to the team of volunteers made up of members of CWA, SEIU1000 & UFCW8GS for being huge supporters of United Way and its certified nonprofit partners and for taking time out to volunteer with a well deserved cause. In addition, thank you to the staff and clients of St. John’s Shelter Program for Women & Children for being such gracious hosts and showing the volunteers around the facility.
