Allied/Nationwide volunteers help out at Next Move

A team of volunteers from Allied/Nationwide came together recently to help out United Way certified partner Next Move by adding gravel to a large area on site that traditionally has become muddy in the rain. The area is used for play by children and enjoyment by families staying in the shelter. The gravel will make the environment more inviting and comfortable and will be enjoyed by many for years to come. Some members of the team were able to work with the chef in the kitchen to help prepare lunch for the day. The group had fun, learned about the organization and met some wonderful people along the way.

Next Move, formerly Sacramento Area Emergency Housing Center, started in 1972 housing just seven homeless families. Now, the organization serves an average of 600 people each day. Next Move provides vital shelter, housing and community services to improve the self-reliance and quality of life for families with children and adults experiencing homelessness. Thank you to the team of enthusiastic volunteers from Allied/Nationwide for working so hard and going above and beyond. An additional thank you to the dedicated Next Move staff who led the troops and made the volunteer experience meaningful.
