Alcon Laboratories volunteers for Community Partnership Day with Placer Food Bank
On Friday April 26th, members of the local team of Alcon Laboratories employees volunteered their time at United Way certified nonprofit partner Placer Food Bank. The group arrived motivated to help tackle some of the problems with hunger in Placer County.
In 2012 alone, Placer Food Bank has distributed 5.9 million pounds of food. Together, the volunteers from Alcon sorted through boxes and boxes of donated food, organizing the food by type. This is just one step in the process to ensure that the food is distributed appropriately to those who need it. The few hours spent helping to sort food will touch many lives for days and weeks to come.
Alcon promotes a Community Partnership Day, giving employees an opportunity to give back to the community. Alcon employees from the home office in Fort Worth, TX and thousands of others across the globe helped their community on the same day. Thank you to the local employees for stepping up and pitching in to help United Way certified nonprofit partner Placer Food Bank. Thank you to employees of Placer Food Bank for being wonderful hosts for the volunteers and making it a fun day all about making a difference and growing together as a team.
