United Way Uses Online Platform to Continue Literacy Event Through Pandemic

SACRAMENTO (5/20/20) – As schools conduct classes virtually, United Way California Capital Region is meeting first graders where they are today – online. This year’s annual Woodland Kids Read and Dream literacy event is taking place today virtually at seven of Woodland’s elementary schools through their first-grade Google classrooms.

United Way Offers Virtual Tax Help Through the Summer

SACRAMENTO (5/14/20) – With the tax deadline extended to July 15, households throughout the Sacramento region are still eligible for free virtual help preparing taxes and claiming credits this year, saving an average of $200 in preparer fees and earning up to $6,500 in credits. United Way California Capital Region’s Free Tax Prep program is partnering with GetYourRefund.org to provide virtual assistance. More households are eligible to participate through the partnership – those earning $66,000 or less in 2019.

United Way California Capital Region’s Free Tax Prep program is now taking appointments. Participating households must have earned $60,000 or less in 2019.
