The Healthy Meals Program VISTA will assist our Healthy Meals Program Manager on the overall strategy and vision for UWCCR’s goal to increase access to meals in low-income areas. The VISTA will help build a strong and sustainable program model for 2019 and beyond, as well as link with our other Healthy Meals Program and Square One work. Duties include: create a volunteer program to assist our current meal sites with the operation of the program, and conduct visits to sites to develop and provide additional capacity-building training and expand on existing program opportunities and offerings. Many programs run through evening hours so schedule is flexible but having a vehicle is a requirement due to sites in Sacramento, Placer, and Yolo counties. The Healthy Meals Program consists of two federal reimbursement programs administered by the United States Department of Agriculture; the Child and Adult Care Food Program and Summer Feed Service Program. The Literacy and Education VISTA will assist or Education Program Officer on the overall strategy and vision for the UWCCR’s Campaign for Grade-Level Reading. VISTA will help build a strong and sustainable program model for 2019 and beyond, as well as link with our Campaign for Grade-Level Reading and Square One work. Duties include: research best practices and create strategic plan to build capacity of Summer Enrichment Collaborative, outreach and recruit to summer education providers and housing complex to build Summer Enrichment Coalition, collaborate with non-profit partners to coordinate and facilitate trainings, review and improve current repertoire of activities and create portfolio of activities building on existing framework and create sustainability plan on incorporating new ideas move forward, refine pre and post-assessment evaluation currently in place. The Woodland Education Coordinator VISTA will assist our Yolo County Area Director on the overall strategy and vision for UWCCR’s Education Program. VISTA will help build a strong and sustainable program model for 2019 and beyond, as well as link to our Square One work. Duties include: coordinating and expanding Kindercamp partners with intention of removing UWCCR as the lead program organizer after year 5, recruiting and building relationships to the surrounding area to expand Woodland Kids Read to include students and community partners, and collaborating with school districts on new strategies to grow Read to Succeed program through volunteer recruitment.
