Union Members Drive the Success of the Annual Toilet Paper Drive!

Post

On September 13, numerous local Unions & their Members participated in the 11th Annual Toilet Paper Drive, and delivered their donated toilet paper to Loaves & Fishes facility on Friday, September 13th! (See attached photo collage)

This annual event created 11 years ago by the United Way California Capital Region, and was handed off to Loaves & Fishes to facilitate in 2016.  Every summer this annual drive encourages the Sacramento Region to donate toilet paper, that is then distributed to local Non-Profit Agencies, so that they can keep their money in programs that assist struggling families, instead of purchasing toilet paper for their facilities!

The Plumbers & Pipefitters Local Union 447 and their Contractors Association, the Associated Plumbing & Mechanical Contractors (APMC) were very generous by signing on as a MAJOR Sponsor of the annual Toilet Paper Drive once again this year!

Over the years the annual Toilet Paper Drive has raised over 1 million rolls of toilet paper for our areas Non-Profit Agencies and Organized Labor and our Local Unions have played a key role in raising a majority if all the toilet paper raised in many of those years!

This year’s 11th Annual Toilet Paper Drive raised a total of 40,944 rolls of toilet paper!   This year Local Unions, Union Member’s, and a few collectively bargained employers/agencies raised over 24,694 rolls of toilet paper!  (See the attached list of Local Union contributions)

This year we had 3 different categories for our Organized Labor Donations:

  • Top Agency – Sacramento County Department of Human Assistance – 10,000 rolls – Numerous DHA sites hosted collections and encouraged their collectively bargained employees to donate toilet paper.
  • Top Private Employer – SaveMart – 3,500 rolls – 3 different stores hosted collections and encouraged their collectively bargained employees to donate toilet paper.
  • Top Local Union – American Postal Workers Union Local 66 – 2,735 rolls – APWU Local 66 donated $500 and the collectively bargained employees of the West Sacramento Postal Processing Plant donated 1,902 rolls of toilet paper.

Again, please see the attached list of Local Union’s that participated in this year’s Toilet Paper Drive, and the attached photo collage of many of those collections being dropped off at Loaves & Fishes by our Local Unions on September 13th!
