Possibilities – A place to call home for homeless youth with TLCS
Friday, Sept. 21, 9 a.m. - 12 p.m.

Project description:

TLCS is rehabilitating four, three-bedroom townhomes that will house 30 transition-age homeless youth each year starting in October 2018. This program is a true intervention at a time when this population needs it most. The intensive, two-year program will provide temporary housing and pathways to treatment and therapies, school and vocational training, and entry-level jobs for youth, in the hopes of preventing a lifetime of homelessness. Factors affecting youth homelessness are complex and distinct from other homeless populations. Youth are physically, emotionally, psychologically, and socially still developing, and are in need of a special focus. In case after case, the main cause of youth homelessness is physical, sexual, and/or emotional abuse from parents or guardians. More than 40 percent of transition-age youth identify as LGBTQI, and many have aged out of the foster care system. We want them to feel welcomed from the moment they walk through the doors, and we need YOUR help getting their new home ready to live in! This Day of Caring will consist of light yard work and grounds beautification as well as cleaning and prepping the townhomes. The heavy lifting on this project will be done by our contractor. Day of Caring is all about those final touches that will make Possibilities feel like home. We look forward to having your help!
