Labor unions raise majority of toilet paper in 2015 Toilet Paper Drive
The annual Toilet Paper Drive is alive and well, and this year, Sacramento’s labor unions stepped up and donated more than half of all the toilet paper collected on June 18!
Over 35,000 rolls were collected during a 12-hour span by staff and volunteers at Cal Expo with 18,500 coming from labor unions. The year’s drive was coordinated through a partnership with Sacramento Loaves & Fishes, The Sacramento Food Bank and California Emergency Foodlink.
The Top 6 Labor Union Toilet Paper Donors:
1. Machinists Local Union 946 3,600 rolls
2. Postal Workers Local Union 66 2,486 rolls
3. SEIU Local Union 1000 1,687 rolls

The Machinists Union & KDEE 97.5 teamed up once again to host a live, on-air toilet paper drive, where radio personalities challenged the station’s listeners to drop off toilet paper in the parking lot of the radio station. This is the third year KDEE 97.5 has partnered with the toilet paper drive, and their generous listeners responded by donating 1000 rolls!
Plumbers & Pipefitters Local Union 447 & their Contractor’s Association provided a significant donation to once again be the event t-shirt sponsors, which were worn by all of the volunteers, and given out to toilet paper donors!
AFSCME Local Union 146 was the breakfast sponsor donating hot coffee and breakfast items to keep the volunteers fueled all day long.
We appreciate the support of our region’s labor unions in assisting our nonprofit community in raising valuable resources. These great organizations will be able to put their financial resources towards the programs that assist so many families in our community.
We will see you next June at the gates of Cal Expo for the 8th Annual Toilet Paper Drive!
