Help students read – become a volunteer
Please help us get the word out. Through the AARP Foundation Experience Corps literacy program, volunteers ages 50 and older will impact students through consistent tutoring several times per week during the school year. Volunteers receive training prior to volunteering and have the opportunity to meet and network with fellow volunteers.
Volunteers can be a part of this fun, meaningful volunteer opportunity taking place in the Center, Robla, Elk Grove, and Washington School Districts.
The first step in becoming an Experience Corps Volunteer Tutor is to sign up for an information session. At an information session volunteers will learn about: the Experience Corps program model and history, why it works, its significant impact, and the research behind it. They will also find out where they can volunteer, the need in their community, and what they can expect as a volunteer tutor.
Information sessions dates:
- Thursday, June 23, 1:30 p.m. – 2:30 p.m.
- Wednesday, June 29, 11 a.m. – 12 p.m.
- Thursday, July 7, 10 a.m. – 11 a.m.
- Tuesday, July 12, 1:30 p.m. – 2:30 p.m.
