Brews & Brains 2019
United Way’s Young Leaders Society packed the Sacramento Masonic Temple with over 180 guests for the 2019 Brews & Brains Trivia Night. The sold-out event brought together trivia enthusiasts’ love for local beer, tacos, and making a difference in our community and raised over $7,500! The event proceeds will benefit the Sacramento Kindergarten to College Savings Program (K2C).
The event program kicked off with Superintendent Ruben Reyes from the Robla School District, who shared a story about a former student named Malik and reminded attendees that our work is making a difference. Malik, a recent college graduate, is now a father who is excited to raise his child in his hometown.
Kevin John from ABC 1o facilitated three rounds of trivia from the early 200os commenced covering pop culture, politics, sports, and music. Points were scored, prizes were won, and victories were made, all for a good night of fun.
This event would not have been possible without the many people who put their heads together. To the Young Leaders Society Council, thank you for seeing the potential in this event and working tirelessly to making it happen. To Kevin John, thank you for filling up the room with your larger-than-life personality! Thanks to Assemblymember Kevin McCarty and SAFE Credit Union, who launched a Kindergarten to College (K2C) program at five SCUSD schools. Also, thank you to our generous sponsors for supporting the event. And most importantly, thank you to our amazing guests who made Brews & Brains the best one yet.
