Evening gowns needed for formerly homeless women

United Way California Capital Region certified nonprofit partner Women’s Empowerment is preparing for their 10th anniversary of the Celebration of Independence Gala. They are collecting gently used prom dresses, bridesmaid dresses, and other formal gowns for formerly homeless women to wear to the event. There is a high need for plus sized dresses.

You can donate your evening gowns and accessories to Women’s Empowerment at 1400 North C Street in Sacramento. Hours of operation are  Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., and Tuesday from 8:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. Please donate all dresses by August 1st to allow time for alterations.

The Celebration of Independence Gala will take place from 5:30 p.m.-9:00 p.m. on September 22nd at The Grand (1215 J Street, Sacramento).  The event includes a formal dinner, live and silent auctions, live music, and presentations from the program graduates and community leaders.
