Emerging Leaders Shoe Drive to Benefit Center for Fathers and Families

United Way’s Emerging Leaders got “social with a purpose” at KBar on April 17th with a shoe drive to benefit United Way certified nonprofit partner, Center for Fathers and Familes.

Emerging Leaders enjoyed networking opportunities, appetizers and drink specials all while giving back to the community!

The shoes will benefit the children in Center for Fathers and Families MASTERS after school program who lack basic necessities. While many students wear hand-me-down clothing, providing shoes for a child is more of a challenge. Many of the children in their programs wear dirty, ill-fitting, over worn shoes. Shoes with good soles are a necessity for kids, but when they come to school with holes in their shoes, this can subject them to teasing and bullying – and lower their self esteem. Thank you to everyone who donated shoes!

Emerging Leaders are young professionals who join together to create lasting change in our community through hands-on volunteer opportunities, innovative leadership trainings and inventive networking events.
