There may be no “I” in TEAM, But there’s a “U” in VOLUNTEER!

What does volunteering mean to you? Sure, volunteering makes you feel good. When you volunteer you are reaching out to your community with your own two hands and making a tangible difference.United Way California Capital Region and the148 local certified nonprofit organizations we partner with rely on volunteers to help achieve the big goals of our community. We certainly can’t do it alone. We need the heads, hands and hearts of committed people like you to help us tackle the problems facing our communities.

That’s where you come in. And I sincerely mean you…the person reading this. Yes, you.

From group volunteer projects to ways to get involved as an individual volunteer, there are many different volunteer opportunities available. No matter what experience or time you have to give, there are many ways to make a significant impact in the community. United Way California Capital Region Volunteer Services partners with companies large and small to develop meaningful community outreach and group volunteer efforts that address vital issues. We customize high-impact corporate days of service and support new and burgeoning employee volunteer programs to meet corporate responsibility goals. Remember those 148 local nonprofit partners I mentioned? We work close with them and help determine their highest volunteer needs and match your group with the best project for you. It’s truly a win-win.

Why should your company plan a volunteer day? Well, other than the feel-good piece, let’s take a look at a few other reasons (but I really shouldn’t downplay how good it truly does feel to give back). Volunteering connects companies to their communities which improves morale and  encourages higher productivity. Getting involved in the community can expose your company to other business or potential customers in your area. Maximize that exposure and the possibilities are endless! We’ll share your success on the United Way website, aligning your brand with an organization who is all about the community. Your employees feel good, business benefits and the community gets some well deserved help. What could be better?

Are you a visual person? I understand, so am I. Get a feel for what your volunteer day could look like by checking out stories and pictures from recent groups who have gifted local nonprofits with their brains and brawn: Recent Volunteer Projects and Pictures.

Lets get started with your group volunteer project! It’s easier than you think. Let us do the bulk of the work for you. We just want you to get out, give back and have a great time. Just complete this short web form so we have all the information we need and sit back, relax and wait for us to bring your group some volunteer opportunities. That’s it! We’ll work with you from inception to the day-of, ensuring everything goes smoothly.

If you’re looking for an individual volunteer opportunity, think about joining one of our Impact Councils or searching the database of our friends at Hands on Sacramento and Volunteer Center of Sacramento who specialize in individual opportunities.

No matter what you do, get out there and give back. I think you’ll be surprised by the number of benefits you find. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to contact me. I sincerely look forward to hearing from you!
