CHP Annual Car Seat Safety Check

Part of having the best job on the planet and working with our state employees are the VOLUNTEER opportunities! As the Director of the California State Employees Charitable Campaign, I have had the extreme pleasure of teaming up with some of our state departments on numerous volunteer excursions. Last Wednesday, we had the opportunity to partner with the California Highway Patrol at their Annual Car Seat Safety Check. The event was held at CalEXPO and despite rainy weather, we were able to ensure that over 120 little Californians had their seats properly installed. This was a remarkable and educational experience for all of our volunteers and recipients.

My favorite moment at this event was when a gentlemen came to have his newborn baby’s seat inspected. He was actually on his way to pick up his wife and newborn from the hospital. He was so grateful for the free inspection that was provided to him, thanks to our Live United Volunteers and the California Highway Patrol.

It’s moments like this, that further solidify why I say that I truly have the BEST job on the planet. To know that we made a difference in the safe transportation of precious children is a feeling that cannot be defined by words.

A big THANK YOU to all of our volunteers from UPS, Sac State, and our state retirees for donating their time and talents to making this a successful event!!

We can’t wait to do this again next year!!!
