Change of name, but not of purpose

Mary E. Rohwer, Global Administration Assistant, IBM Corp.

My association with United Way predates its name! In 1960, at the age of six, when the organization was called United Crusade, I began my relationship with United Crusade of Spokane, WA in a swimming program for paraplegic children. Now as a 34 year employee of IBM, I look forward to the annual employee charitable contributions campaign. This is one of the several opportunities I have to give directly to the United Way California Capital Region with a monthly payroll deduction. Recently, it’s been my privilege to be involved in their 3rd annual LIVE UNITED Toilet Paper Drive and partnering with UWCCR for the IBM Day of Service and American River Parkway clean-up. The name may have changed over the years, but certainly not the dedication, service and sense of community provided by this outstanding organization
