Payless Shoe Source volunteers do early spring cleaning at Community Recovery Resources

Volunteer

On Wednesday, February 6th, 26 volunteers from Payless Shoe Source ambitiously completed multiple projects at the South Placer Residential Treatment Facility of Community Recovery Resources. Following a tour of the facility and overview of the services provided, the group accomplished painting the interior of the building, which included nineteen bedrooms, four offices, two group rooms and the hallway. In addition, the group cleaned out the basement of the facility, which had been used for storage for several years. And by “cleaned out,” we mean completely filling a huge dumpster that was donated for the day in addition to organizing what was left. The can-do attitude of each and every member of the volunteer team, lead by the hardest working volunteer lead, Mark, made for laughter all day, some practical jokes and some excellent team building!

Certified United Way nonprofit partner Community Recovery Resources (CoRR) is a local non profit that provides the majority of drug and alcohol rehabilitation programs throughout Placer and Nevada Counties. CoRR has successfully supported men, women, adolescents, and families to recover from substance abuse and related mental health issues for nearly forty years and has approximately 2,000 enrolled in its programs on any given day, and on average close to 5,000 clients successfully complete its treatment programs each year.

Thank you to the staff and clients of CoRR for being such gracious and helpful hosts! And last but not least, thank you to all volunteers from Payless Shoe Source for making such a huge impact in our local community in just one day. Our hats are off to Payless Shoe Source for recognizing the importance of volunteering in the community.
