AT&T volunteers help the Education Collaborative at RAFT

Volunteer

The Community NETwork Group from AT&T recently volunteered with the California Capital Region Education Collaborative and helped local students succeed by sorting and preparing school supplies that will be distributed to eight local schools. While there is always a need for school supplies, the typical school supply drive benefits the beginning of the school year and what happens when those supplies run out mid-year? Students and teachers throughout our region are in need of mid-year replenishing of supplies and this will distribution will provide relief to some of those needs. In partnership with RAFT (Resource Area For Teaching), the collaborative collects and distributes school supplies twice a year. RAFT is one of the many partners in the collaborative and gracious host for storing the supplies and providing space for volunteers to sort and prepare the supplies for distribution. A huge and heart felt thank you to the volunteers from AT&T Community NETwork and RAFT for hosting the project.

About RAFT: Hands-on education prepares kids to compete in a global market. It turns abstract and complex ideas into activities that students can grasp. It is a proven approach for engaging students and boosting subject comprehension. Today, many educators do not have the time, funds, training or expertise to adopt hands-on learning approaches. RAFT provides creative ideas, affordable project materials, one-on-one mentoring and professional development. By transforming the learning environment, RAFT helps close the achievement gap and helps students apply their knowledge to a real world environment.
