Allied/Nationwide volunteers help prepare for Thanksgiving with Next Move

Volunteer

A team of volunteers from Allied/Nationwide came together recently to help out United Way certified partner Next Move with preparing for Thanksgiving at the Next Move Family Shelter. The group helped organize food in the pantry and moved the supplies for upcoming meals before putting on their hair nets and preparing and serving lunch for the day to the families staying in the shelter. In addition, the group bagged up food to be distributed to families and individuals which included fixings for a Thanksgiving meal. The group had fun, learned about the organization and met some wonderful people along the way.

Next Move, formerly Sacramento Area Emergency Housing Center, started in 1972 housing just seven homeless families. Now, the organization serves an average of 600 people each day. Next Move provides vital shelter, housing and community services to improve the self-reliance and quality of life for families with children and adults experiencing homelessness. Thank you to the team from Allied/Nationwide for working so hard and going above and beyond. An additional thank you to the Chef and other dedicated Next Move staff who led the troops and made the volunteer experience the best it can be. Happy Thanksgiving!
