Emerging Leaders Volunteer at the Toilet Paper Distribution Day!
On June 20th, United Way’s Emerging Leaders rolled up their sleeves and helped distribute over 229,000 rolls of toilet paper to local nonprofits.
The toilet paper was donated by community members and local businesses at United Way’s 5th annual LIVE UNITED Toilet Paper Drive, held on June 13th.
Each year, nonprofits spend thousands of dollars on toilet paper. Money that could instead go to providing 175 hours of counseling and case management for women in crisis at Wellspring Women’s Center, or provide 676 nutritious home-cooked meals for people who are homeless at Sacramento Loaves and Fishes. And that’s just two examples.
In total, 16 Emerging Leaders volunteered to help load the cars, trucks and vans of local nonprofits with their toilet paper donation. The response from the nonprofits was overwhelming as each agency was grateful to be receiving such a generous donation!
A big thanks to United Way’s Emerging Leaders for distributing the toilet paper to our local nonprofit partners and to all of the donors, businesses and sponsors who helped make the Toilet Paper Drive a huge success!
