Mar. 9, 2010 -- Last Tuesday, I had the opportunity to speak with college student’s at UC Davis’ Career Speed Dating event. More than 300 students and alumni attended the event and 45 professionals in the fields of journalism, communication, and marketing participated.

Feb. 25, 2010 -- You probably missed it in the Bee, but our oldest surviving board and campaign chair passed away recently: 94-year-old Dr. John Kassis.

He was a member of the prominent Sacramento family that founded the area’s first locally owned super market chain (Stop-n-Shop). In their time, they were great supporters of ours.

Nov. 17, 2009 -- After being married for five years my wife and I felt strongly that we wanted to see our family grow. It has always been my wife’s desire to adopt and I felt the same. After about a year and several agency visits we found our place, Lilliput Children’s Services (a United Way California Capital Region certified agency).

Sept. 9, 2009 -- A friend asked me today what I like to do. I told him that what I really like to do is to spend time with my daughter. She lives away at college and came home this past weekend for a long-weekend visit. We visited with family, shopped a lot, and washed her dirty laundry! I realized that I just enjoy being in her company.
