CASA Volunteer Training Starts July 8

June 8, 2010 -- United Way California Capital Region certified agency Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) will be hosting a volunteer training session starting July 8.

Kids’ Expo event needs volunteers

Mar. 2, 2010 -- United Way California Capital Region certified agency, Choices for Children, is presenting the 25th Annual Kids’ Expo on April 10th that could use volunteers. Choices for Children will be operating a food concession booth as a fundraiser. Six volunteers will be needed to staff the food booth from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.

Child Abuse Prevention Center needs volunteer to assist in database design

Feb. 26, 2010 -- The Child Abuse Prevention Center in North Highlands is looking for a skilled volunteer to assist on the design and development of one or more Microsoft Access 2007-based databases. These databases are intended to reduce duplication of work effort, streamline data entry, and facilitate greater manipulation of data to provide useful quality information. These improvements will help staff better manage the implementation of programs that benefit children and families that reduce or eliminate child abuse and neglect.

Food distribution volunteers needed

Feb. 26, 2010 -- United Way California Capital Region certified agency, Yolo County Children's Alliance, needs volunteers every Friday at Alyce Norman School (1200 Anna Street in West Sacramento) to distribute food to families in need. The volunteers will help distribute 120 bags of fresh fruits and vegetables.
