Bringing Holiday Cheer to Foster Youth
Annual Holiday Gift & Stocking Drive a Success!

Success Story

On December 1, more than 40 volunteers gathered at United Way to stuff stockings and wrap gifts for children in Sacramento County Child Protective Services and foster youth in United Way’s programs. The holiday wrap party was a wonderful way to kick off the holidays and unite women and young professionals around the needs of local foster youth during the holiday season.

Thanks to generous donors, almost $5,000 was raised to put together stockings for 134 foster youth. Each stocking had a $30 Target card, snacks, gloves, a special note from a volunteer and all were wrapped in a beautiful handmade blanket donated by the Project Linus Sacramento Chapter. Teens from Koinonia Family Services, Child Abuse Prevention Center, New Morning Youth Services, and Amador Tuolumne Community Resources, Inc. will receive the stockings.

In addition to the stocking donations, people had fun playing Santa by fulfilling a child’s holiday wish list (155 gifts total!). These gifts will be delivered to children in Sacramento County Child Protective Services through the Gifts from the Heart program.

Thank you to all of the gift and stocking donors, and volunteers who participated in making the holidays a little merrier for our local foster youth!
