Three men of our United Way team will join the 500 other men at
Capitol Mall to complete the one-mile walk course wearing
high heels – yes high heels. These men will represent our
community – business leaders, elected officials, students, and
more will join together to run, walk, and limp their way around
the course while raising funds for WEAVE. Show your
support!
We all struggle to find extra time to give back, with busy lives
and obligations beyond our capacity. However, getting involved
and supporting your community can be easier than you think.
Especially when you think outside the box and help out in a
non-traditional way. I’d say two men strapping on a pair of red
high heels is pretty non-traditional. But then again, so is
holding a toilet paper drive…the possibilities are endless!

and helping to connect people who are passionate about creating
change with those who need help most.

The Tocqueville Society is named for the 18th century French
explorer Alexis Charles-Henri de Tocqueville. He was just 26
years old when he arrived in America in 1831 and though he only
spent nine months in the United States, he made — and recorded
— many observations, readings and discussions with eminent
Americans that formed the basis of Democracy in America — his
book that was published in two volumes (in 1835 and 1840) that
detailed American society and politics.
Have you ever said to yourself, “I wish I could be like Bill
Gates or Warren Buffet”? These are two titans of America’s
wealthiest business leaders. Leaders, who have changed the face
of computing and investing for generations to come, but leaders
in another way as well. Mr. Gates and Mr.
