(Unavailable) 916 Ink- Spread the Love of Literacy with Little Free Libraries!
Friday, Sept. 22, 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.

Project description:

At 916 Ink, we’re all about sharing the power of stories! In our creative writing workshops, we empower Sacramento youth to use their voice and to take control of their own narratives. We’d like to spread this passion for storytelling beyond the classroom and into the community by building and installing “Little Free Libraries” in five locations strategically chosen to get heavy traffic from Sacramento children. But there’s more: our Little Free Libraries won’t just have books for children to read and enjoy. They’ll also include include specialized 916 Ink prompt booklets, which will feature some of our favorite writing prompts to spark the kids’ imagination and get them writing themselves! We don’t just want our libraries to encourage children to read stories, we want them to encourage children to write stories!

We will build the Libraries in our headquarters at the Maple Neighborhood Center (3301 37th Ave., Sacramento, CA, 95824,) and will install one Little Free Library there.

We will then split up in to groups to install libraries in three other locations:

The Mustard Seed School (1321 North C Street, Sacramento, CA, 95811)
FairyTale Town (3901 Land Park Dr, Sacramento, CA, 95822)
Fruitridge Community Center (4000 Fruitridge Road, Sacramento, CA, 95820).
