Sacramento Summer Meals Collaborative Spike Week Winners: Smoothie Bike Party!

Post

What does it take to make kids want to return to something? Fun, food, and discovery. That’s what Sacramento Summer Meals Collaborative’s partners strive to provide– and Spike Week was our celebration of our commitment to those things. Throughout the week of July 10th-14th, Summer Meals Sites around the greater Sacramento area dedicated themselves to going above and beyond their usual Summer Meals activities in an effort to boost attendance and keep kids coming back for healthy meals in safe and engaging environments.

Part of the fun of Spike Week was the incentive to win a Smoothie Bike Party! Sites that participated in Spike Week activities were entered into a drawing, and two winners were chosen. This year’s winners were Arcade Library and Elk Grove’s Rutter Park. Thanks to our partners at Health Education Council and the Dairy Council of California, we brought a “Smoothie Bike” to these sites and the kids did the rest of the work to blend up some delicious and nutritious smoothies. Look through the pictures below to see the fun!
