Make a commitment to provide activities for youth at summer meals sites this summer

Post

The Sacramento Summer Meals Collaborative is focused this year on increasing the number and variety of activities offered at summer meal sites. During the summer, kids are at a heightened risk of experiencing hunger. More than half of families whose kids eat a subsidized school meal during the school year have a harder time making ends meet during the summer than the school year. The Summer Meals Program meets the needs of these youth by providing healthy and nutritious meals during the summer at various sites and locations such as parks, churches, schools and community centers.

We would love to have you join us in our efforts to improve and increase the number of enriching activities provided at these various sites. Specifically, we are hoping your organization might be able to provide for these youth who might otherwise not have access to such services.

If you are interested in joining our efforts to best utilize the Summer Food Service Program to reach more Sacramento kids in need this summer please fill out this form below and briefly describe the activities you might be able to offer and indicate how often you would be willing to visit our Summer Meals sites.

We will use this information to provide a matchmaking service to our sites before and during the summer months and will be in touch soon regarding which sites are most interested in having you visit!

We sincerely appreciate your commitment to our community and our youth and look forward to partnering with you this summer if you are interested!

Please let us know what type of activity you’d like to lead.
