Carl was born in Haiti and came to the States when he was 10 years old, leaving his family and friends behind. After several unfortunate circumstances he found himself in the foster care system. He is now on track to graduate from Koinonia Community School and then take on the next adventures that await him. He enjoys playing basketball and watching movies. Carl aspires to someday be a great father and a good role model for his children. Allie is 15 years old and always smiling. She loves to crochet and has taught the other girls at Koinonia how to make scarves and hats! Someday she hopes to be an artist. Allie loves the beach and the forest and her favorite food is home cooking. Allie is a helper with a big heart. She loves to talk and joke around with the other girls and have fun!Carlos is 14 years old and his smile is absolutely contagious! He is well known among the Koinonia staff for his sweet attitude and his enthusiastic participation in anything he is asked to do. He loves to play basketball and practices every chance he gets. His goal is to someday be a professional basketball player so that he could love his job and also take care of his mom and sisters. Cyndal is a very silly and positive 16 year old. She loves to play games and skateboard and is also a huge fan of Justin Bieber. She has the most beautiful smile. She has faced many challenges resulting in her being placed in the foster care system, but Cyndal is strong and has overcome some difficult situations. She now enjoys school and dreams of becoming a fashion designer someday. She looks forward to being reunited with her grandmother in the near future. Justine is a wise and mature 16 year old. She loves music and looks forward to going the gym. She also loves animals. She is doing well in school and shares the importance of getting an education with her friends regularly. She wants to attend college to become a probation officer or a veterinarian. Justine has hopes to see her family all together some day and is eager to be a role model the younger members of her family.Greg is 17 years old and has a big heart and a love for life. He has overcome significant challenges, but has not let life’s circumstances keep him from chasing his dreams. He is set to graduate High School soon and wants to become a firefighter. There is no doubt that Greg will make a lasting impact on the community where he serves.Greg is 17 years old and has a big heart and a love for life. There is no doubt that Greg will make a lasting impact on the community where he serves.Jamie is 17 years old and the oldest child in her family.  She prides herself in being not only an older sister to her siblings, but a mentor as well.  She is a native to California.  Jamie is a beautiful writer and she is going to major in journalism after graduating from high school next year.   She is currently focused on finding out which college will meet her needs for journalism.Vanessa graduated from Independence High School in 2010 and attended college for a year as she worked full time. She’s currently taking a break from college and working at Jackson Rancheria Casino. She plans on going back to school in the spring. Vanessa is interested in radiology, journalism, cosmetologist, or becoming a photographer. Vanessa is ready to start a new chapter in her life with the support of her foster mother and with the resources that her ILP/IDA Educator can help her with.Eve is 18 years old and finishing up high school. She likes to read and take pictures, and she loves young children. Eve is excited to start an intern program with the District Attorney’s office in Amador County.  Her goal is to become an attorney where she would like to help foster children and make the system a better one for young people.
