Time to Be Heroes
Help to End Domestic Violence

News

United Way California Capital Region nonprofit partner, Women Escaping a Violent Environment, has helped many people transition from victim to survivor.  Meet former abusee Shelly, who opened her home to five year-old Cindy and her family, flooded out of their residence due to strong rains.  After enduring years of violence from the men in her life, Shelly turned to WEAVE for help.  Armed with encouragement and support, she found the courage to break the cycle of violence and made a new start elsewhere. Cindy and her “Aunt Shelly” formed a special bond, which continues to this day through letters and phone calls.  Inspired by her “aunt’s” bravery, Cindy obtained a $10,000 grant for WEAVE from Avon company, and became a representative to boot.  Shelly and Cindy are true heroines to WEAVE, and you can be as well.  Your tax-deductible donations go toward counseling sessions, maintaining the crisis hotline, providing a safe haven for vicitims and much more.

Per its website, WEAVE, Inc. provides crisis intervention services to women, men and children in Sacramento County who have experienced domestic violence or have been sexually assaulted. It is WEAVE’s mission to bring an end to domestic violence and sexual assault in partnership with our community.  Visit www.weaveinc.org for additional information.
