Women in Philanthropy Advocacy 101 Workshop
Getting to Know Your Legislators & Influencing Your Priorities

Event

Active involvement in the political and policy processes is critical to influencing legislative and regulatory priorities. The lawmakers that represent you actually want to hear your opinions. As a Women in Philanthropy member, this is an important step in supporting foster youth and advocating for their future.

How do you do this? Ultimately, the California legislature is influenced by information brought to members and their staffs. Getting to know your legislator and having your legislator get to know your priorities is critical. If your legislators do not hear from you, then your silence is considered approval.

This Advocacy 101 training will help provide a level of comfort with the process and approaches that are proven to work in the Capitol and your local communities.

The workshop will be co-presented by Dawn Koepke, Partner at McHugh, Koepke & Associates and WIP member Sheila Boxley, President & CEO of the Child Abuse Prevention Center.
