March 7, 2012 Meeting Overview

The Collaborative took an exciting step forward by defining the support we can bring to schools as:

The Collaborative will be a connector for schools to volunteers, resources, best practices and expertise. Resources will include grant writing and active outreach to potential funders to bring additional financial resources to the region. The Collaborative will also work with schools to raise the visibility of their individual challenges in order to seek support for the solutions.

Collaborative members also agreed to keep our work moving forward by participating on one of the Action Groups.

Outreach and Advocacy will create a flyer explaining how the Collaborative can help schools. The group is also working on “attendance” educational outreach materials to be used in the community. This group meets the 2nd Wednesday of the month at 2:00pm. You can participate in person or by phone.

Research and Resource has created a process for Collaborative groups to request assistance in grant writing and seeking funds for projects.  This group will also be responsible for providing high level oversight of those efforts. The group will be working on a project to match schools with sources of free supplies. This group meets by phone the 3rd Tuesday of the month at 10:30 a.m.

Youth Engagement has completed a project that will be given to the grant writing firm this month. This group will be deciding on their next project.  They meet by phone the 3rd Tuesday of the month at 9 a.m.
Please let me know which Action Group you would like to join by replying to impact@uwccr.org!
