Volunteers Making an Impact
Goodbye summer, hello fall

July and August were busy months for United Way California Capital Region. We spent the summer gearing up for our third annual Day of Caring on September 11. The day marked a National Day of Service, the nation’s largest annual day of charitable engagement. Millions of people throughout the U.S. participated, and locally more than 36 projects were completed by 936 volunteers.

June

June was a month of partnerships at United Way California Capital Region. Just to name a few, we worked with Zurich Insurance to reach out to local agencies for their Global Community Week. Later in the month we also participated in the annual Toilet Paper Drive, which took place this year through a partnership between Sacramento Loaves & Fishes, Sacramento Food Bank & Family Services, and California Emergency Foodlink. In addition to these, community partners including UPS, and volunteers with our Young Leaders Society continued to expand their impact in the community.

May

Big Day of Giving kicked off the month of May for United Way California Capital Region. We were so fortunate to have so many amazing donors contribute to the United Way fund.

United Way works hard to connect volunteers to community organizations where they can make a difference, and it was rewarding to feel the community’s support for our mission. We are incredibly proud of our volunteers and would like to showcase recent impact in action. Check out what they have been up to!

UPS at Sacramento Food Bank & Family Services

We were so pleased to have UPS back with us at Sacramento Food Bank and Family Services. 13 volunteers talked the massive job that is sorting donations. This is a momentous task that has to be undertaken everyday and the staff at the Food Bank was so relieved to have the help this time.
