Event Overview

Day of Caring is a day of service when individuals, families and teams of coworkers or friends can volunteer at nonprofit agencies throughout the region. Volunteer teams ranging in size from 10 -100 tackle meaningful projects addressing community and agency needs. United Way California Capital Region is initiating this event in order to promote volunteerism throughout Amador, El Dorado, Placer, Sacramento, and Yolo Counties.

Scheduling a Day of Caring Project

The morning of the event will feature a Kick-Off breakfast and rally at Cal Expo before volunteers are sent on their way to complete your organization’s project. Start your brainstorming now! What types of projects do you need completed? Projects should last between 3-6 hours. Applications for inclusion of your organization in the Day of Caring will be announced in early May.  While all projects will be considered, there is a particular interest in school/community gardens, park clean-ups and other large scale events.

Mini-grant Opportunity

United Way California Capital Region and our corporate partners will be able to provide a limited number of mini-grants to cover all or some of the costs of the Day of Caring volunteer project such as materials, snack, lunch, and water for volunteers. Applications for mini-grants will be announced with the Day of Caring overall application in early May.
